Accessibility

Global Survivors Network is dedicated to ensuring the site is accessible, enabling a majority of users to access information on the site.

This website has been built to meet at least Level 1 of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0 (http://www.w3.org/TR/WCAG10/full-checklist.html)

As such, you will be able to change the way you view the website using tools built in to your web browser.

Changing text size

Users may wish to change the default text size for many reasons. As a result the site has been build to allow a user to change the size to suit them. Ways of changing the text size can vary amongst browsers:

Internet Explorer

Click on ‘View’ in the top menu bar. Next, click ‘Text Size’ and select your preferred text size from the options.

Firefox

Click on ‘View’ in the top menu bar. Next, click ‘Zoom’ and select ‘Zoom In’ or ‘Zoom Out’ as preferred.

Chrome

To zoom in on the page press “Control and +” and to zoom out “Control and -“.

Safari

To zoom in on a PC press “Control and +” and on a Mac “Command and +”. To zoom out on a PC press “Control and -“ and on a Mac “Command and -“.

Opera

Click on ‘View’ in the top menu bar. Next, click ‘Zoom’ and select your preferred zoom level from the options.

Viewing in a plain layout

Some browsers allow you to remove styling attributes specified by the web page. This can be useful for people who prefer to view sites on specific coloured backgrounds, read a particular font or use a combination of specific colours.

Internet Explorer

Click on ‘Tools’ in the top menu bar. Next, click ‘Internet Options’. Click on the ‘Accessibility’ button at the bottom right of the dialogue box. A new dialogue box will open, offering you three formatting choices. Click each checkbox that corresponds with your preferred option.

Firefox

Click on ‘View’ in the top menu bar. Next, click on ‘Page Style’ and then select ‘No Style’.

Opera

Click on ‘View’ in the top menu bar, then ‘Style’ then ‘User mode’.

Flash content

Flash content has been used on the site, to view this content the Flash Player plugin must be installed. If you do not have the Flash Player, it can be downloaded from here:

PDF files

The site does contain some documents in PDF (Portable Document Format) format. To read these files Adobe Acrobat Reader is required which can be downloaded from here: http://get.adobe.com/reader/
